Revd Peter den Haan

Associate Minister

Peter den Haan

My family and I were called to Rugby Baptist in Spring 2016 following a remarkable sequence of events that had the Lord's fingerprints all over it — ask me over a cup of coffee — and we're delighted to be here.

My wife Inger is an immigration lawyer. We have a son, Nathan; if you decide to brave our church you can't miss him racing around in his wheelchair. My specific focus at Rugby Baptist is equipping the church for outreach (Mark 1:17and prayer (Matthew 6:6).

My heart is to love, to be loved, to open up the good news and see it connect deeply with people’s lives in the power of the Spirit. Theologically, my interests are preaching, prayer, biblical theology, Reformation thought, the Great Commission, apologetics and thinking clearly about faith, life, and the world. I am passionate about the need to empower the next generation to reach a hurting world with the gospel, and as such I am also involved with Salt and Light UK's King’s School of Theology (KST).

In a previous life, I worked for the Church of England. Also I used to develop software for a living, and in yet another life, I was a theoretical physicist with a doctorate from the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
