ROB COLLEY
Rob Studied Mathematics at King’s College Cambridge before opting for a career in Music. He subsequently studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music and The Vienna Musikhochschule, where he won many prizes and scholarships.
Since then he has had a long and varied career in teaching (both Maths and Music), performing and composing, in a wide variety of settings and styles.
From 1999 - 2018 he was Head of Keyboard at Rugby School, and since his semi-retirement from there he has carried on his composing and performing activities.
Following the publication of his piano piece Hoe-Down on the Trinity College grade 8 syllabus in 2023, Trinity are currently publishing a book of 10 of his piano pieces for use in their ATCL Diploma syllabus.
In 2023 the RAM awarded Rob the ARAM award for life-time achievement in music.
Rob also completed, for enjoyment, an Open University degree in Mathematics in 2016, in which he achieved a Distinction.
Rob ran the social service music group during his time at Rugby and for many years brought groups of young musicians to perform at the Baptist Church women’s meeting, now known as the Thursday Fellowship, so has a connection with the church going back more than 20 years.
He is delighted to be performing at the celebration of the group’s centenary.
